OurWhisky Foundation Community platform launches to connect the global whisky industry

Non-profit OurWhisky Foundation launches Community for global whisky industry

The OurWhisky Foundation has launched the OurWhisky Foundation Community, a first-of-its-kind digital platform designed to connect whisky industry professionals around the world.

The first platform of its kind, the OurWhisky Foundation Community has been created to connect professionals from all areas of the whisky industry, with a specific focus on empowering, recognising and supporting women working in the category.

Through features including 1-2-1 messaging, courses, exclusive content and events, open chat functions and curated discussion boards, the platform offers members a wealth of opportunities to engage with peers and learn from them too.

All facets of the Community have been created to foster collaboration, furthering and bettering our members’ professional (and personal) lives, contributing to a more connected global whisky industry.

OurWhisky Foundation founder, Becky Paskin, said of the launch: “The OurWhisky Foundation Community has been a long-term ambition of ours, so we’re proud to finally reveal our new, smart and intuitive platform. Great things happen when people unite in pursuit of common goals, so we’re excited to see how whisky professionals use the Community to collaborate, create and connect across the world, contributing to a more inclusive, welcoming and thriving industry.”

Members of the Community can discover local events and even arrange meet-ups.

The OurWhisky Foundation Community has many benefits for its members. These include opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals passionate about whisky for mutually enriching learning experiences; discover new career opportunities through our jobs board; gain access to exclusive virtual events and meet-ups, plus discounts on live regional events; build a supportive network of peers all eager to share knowledge and grow in the spirits industry; and contribute to a more inclusive whisky industry through member discussions.

The Community’s first member-exclusive event will be a live virtual Q&A on 29th April with Glenmorangie master blender, Gillian Macdonald, providing an opportunity for attendees to learn more about career paths that involve whisky making and pose questions in real time.

This will be followed by the open-invite OurWhisky Foundation Spirit of Speyside House Party at the Dowan’s Hotel in Aberlour on 4th May, with an exclusive discounted trade ticket available to members. Details about further events – both virtual and in-person – can be accessed through the Community platform.

Executive director, Marissa Johnston, said: “I am thrilled to announce the launch of the OurWhisky Foundation Community, a pioneering platform designed to connect whisky professionals while championing our mission to recognise, support and empower women working in whisky around the world. By fostering greater collaboration within the global whisky community, we aim to address the unique challenges women face, helping them thrive in their careers. I invite everyone to join us on this exciting journey as we enhance our collective impact and celebrate diversity in the world of whisky.”

Memberships are available from just £10 per month. Funds raised will go towards operation of the platform as well as other initiatives from the OurWhisky Foundation.
